DR ROBERT LAWRENCE Missionary in China
W.G.B. writes:
Courage and abiding love of service to God and country and his family, dominated Robert Lawrence, who died recently at Swanage.
Gassed in the First World War, he recovered sufficiently to spend years in devoted service in the China Inland Mission; in which be had to combat distress inflicted on his work by marauders and the war lords.
In this work he was ably assisted by Mrs Lawrence, his mother. On their return to England he engaged in literary work as well as doctoring. editing the letter of his brothers Will and Frank and Ned -the latter rooted in the annals of historical deeds of daring and mastery of literature by the name of Lawrence of Arabia.

Doctor Bob* also played a leading part in the compilation of the biography of Canon Christopher.
In politics he favoured the Tory party, though he detested the idea of our entry into the Common Market; and the resolution in its favour in Parliament brought him great distress.
As a fighter for all that he believed in, he brought the utmost sincerity and self sacrifice which he derived from his home upbringing; and to those qualities he added the kindliness which endeared him to his devoted friends.
