Reg Allen

More about Mr A R ALLEN From the Oxford School Phoenix Magazine No 7.

Mr REG ALLEN (Ed: At last we know his Christian name!) was appointed in 1928 to look after the school laboratories. Even when a new Biology lab was added, he took on the extra load willingly and also found time to support the Science staff and the School.

He did a lot of work with the lighting for dramatic productions, “even climbing and walking along the beams in the School Hall.”

He could stand in for an absent master, and when the shortage of science staff was acute, he taught a chemistry class with great success for a term or two.

During the war he served at a First Aid post, and he was the person one was sent to if one had a minor ailment.

Reg retired after 47 years service to the City of Oxford School and Oxford School.
