This website is a private initiative by a former pupil of the City of Oxford High School for Boys but sanctioned by the current committee of COSA, whose material is mainly being used to populate it.
This content mostly relates to the history of the school, its Old Boys and many staff members. It is not exhaustive as the material is only that which has been submitted over time by former pupils and their friends or relatives.
HOW TO:
For the technically minded, most of this website’s content has been entered on what is known as a post. This allows readers to enjoy a more dynamic relationship with the content than does a page, which is a static entity (like this one).
- Hopefully, the menu across the top of the screen is self-explanatory and should be the easiest way to gain access to all the content available.
- If you want to drill deeper, clicking on an item in the tag cloud at the bottom of every post should provide a further way of filtering the data. The bigger the tag the more data you will find.
- If you want to drill deeper still, again at the bottom of every post, you will find a list of the category and the tags under which the entry you are reading has been indexed. Click on one that interests you and the website will post all of the entries in the website that have content related to the category or tag you have just chosen.
- Should you wish to add further data to a particular post – a correction, addition or opinion on the content say – you will find a comments box at the bottom of every one.
- Finally, if you are just a curious person (and want to live more dangerously ;-): you can surf this site randomly:
- To wander at your ease across different content, you can call up posts from the bottom of every screen by clicking on Archives, Categories or the Tag Cloud.
- If you are a frequent visitor, to save time trawling through the old stuff, clicking on Recent Posts will list the very latest entries made. Less frequent? – then clicking on the Archives month which post-dates your last visit will allow you to pick up the thread.
- Clicking on Recent Comments will allow you to surf other people’s opinions on the content of individual posts. These are generally rather rare however.
- At the bottom of every post you will find a forward and a back arrow. A variety of content will pop up most times you hit that arrow (if in the same direction).
Enjoy!
