Kim, the widow of Keith Hill (1945-50) has written:
I have recently received the COSA newsletter and have realised that I did not notify the Association of my husband’s death. Keith Hill was one of your members and very proud of his old school. I remember him going off to reunions many years ago when our children were quite young. We made many trips to Oxford to see his family, and we always took a look at the old school building. Keith was born in South Wales in 1934 but moved as a baby to Oxford where his father had found work. He was the eldest of five children, all his siblings being born in Oxford.
At the age of 10 Keith won a scholarship to the City of Oxford School where he remained until he was 16 years of age, leaving with the School Certificate. Keith’s passion was rugby, and he played for the school 1st Fifteen when just 15 years. Keith kept his school magazines in which he appeared several times!
On leaving school Keith worked briefly for a firm of Chartered Accountants until he was called up for National Service in the Royal Navy. He went on to marry and had three children. In December 1954 Keith joined the Metropolitan Police and served in various parts of South London until his retirement after 30 years’ service, his final rank being that of Detective Inspector. He was commended on 7 occasions for detective ability by various Commissioners of Police.
Keith retired to Cornwall in 1985 and had two children with his second wife, away from the stresses of London. Keith sadly suffered a severe stroke in 2004 and over the following 6 years he was left disabled but was stoical in keeping himself cheerful for his family. Keith died suddenly in May 2010 at home. He was 75 years old.
